UBS Adds To Wealth Advisory Capabilities In New York

UBS Wealth Management US has appointed Mellany Bagtas as a financial advisor in New York City. The group also added a former JP Morgan and Citi Private Banker to its NY team this week.

Bagtas will be based at the firm’s 299 Park Avenue office and will report to associate market executive Demie Kommatas, UBS said in a statement yesterday. 

“Mellany’s extensive experience, deep understanding of clients’ sophisticated financial needs, and commitment to best-in-class service make her stand out as a professional,” Demie Kommatas, UBS associate market executive, said. “We look forward to working alongside her to provide comprehensive, tailored solutions to our ultra-high net worth clients.”

Prior to this, Bagtas worked at Morgan Stanley, where she most recently served as a first vice president and portfolio manager. Prior to that, she was a vice president for wealth management at Merrill Lynch as well as a banker at JP Morgan Chase.

Bagtas graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mount Saint Mary College with a bachelor of science in business and a concentration in finance. She served on the board of directors and was a past president of the Hudson Valley Estate Planning Council. Bagtas has also served on the boards of the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley, St Luke’s Cornwall Hospital Foundation and other non-profit organizations.

In her new role, Bagtas is joined by wealth strategy associate Kaitlin Weaver.

Separately, UBS International earlier this week appointed Adelino Dias as a financial advisor in New York. The announcement was on the Linkedin page of Michael Sarlanis, managing director and market executive of UBS New York International.

“As part of a global wealth management leader, Adelino is well positioned to bring you thoughtful strategies and solutions to all dimensions of your financial life,” Sarlanis wrote.

Dias has a background in serving UHNW clients, mainly in Brazil, the post said.

Prior to UBS, Dias worked for more than seven years in private wealth management at Citi Private Bank, in the New York area, as a director; before that, he worked in private wealth management, executive director, also in New York, for JP Morgan.
